Apple has also approved our application and I am just waiting for activation of the Developer account so that the first iOS app can be published for testing.

UPDATE: 4 January 2023 - The next version of the Android app can be downloaded from content.thetorahnetwork.com/upload/files/2023/01/ttn-04-01-2023.apk

You will however have to manually install the APK on your Android device for testing as it hasn't been released on the App Store yet.

I normally download APKs on my mobile and then use the "My Files" app to find it. You should find the file under the "Installation files" list and can then install it from there...

The iOS app is finally reaching completion and should be available for testing over the next week or so.

UPDATE: 29 March 2022 - The iOS app development is progressing well. There are around currently 17 major items (chat being one of them) that are being worked on which must be completed before the app can be sent out for beta testing.

I will post updates more regularly on this thread.

UPDATE: 11 February 2022 - I am so glad to report that all the funds have come in and the Mac laptop has been purchased. Praise Father for every person who has contributed, either through spreading the word, prayer or actually giving.

The iOS app development will pick up speed on Sunday and I trust to have the app out in the next month.

UPDATE: 31 January 2022 - A fundraiser is underway (https://www.thetorahnetwork.com/show_fund/gtamUnfpHHsNxw4) to buy a second hand Macbook so that I can take the development of the iOS app in-house; as I don't have any Mac devices to do the development on. Things should progress a lot faster once I have a Mac and I will keep this thread up to date.

UPDATE: 27 January 2022 - The newest version of the Android app has been submitted to the Google Playstore and it is awaiting review and release by them. This normally takes around 3 to 7 days, so look out for the latest release on the Google Playstore.

UPDATE: 5 September 2021 - The iOS app is currently ready for testing and it should take a week to work through any issues. If there are funds next week then I will get an Apple Developer subscription to publish the app.

The Android app is also nearing completion, but there are two major issues which needs to be fixed at present before it can be released.

NOTE: There are dependencies between upgrading the web server and the mobile apps as the chat functionality on the current version of the Android apps will break when the server gets upgraded, so it will be necessary to upgrade to the latest Android version for these features to work again.

An announcement will be published on the web site to give you a few days notice after the Android app has been released for when the server will be upgraded.

UPDATE: 20 August 2021 - The mobile apps are making progress, but very slowly.

The latest code for the Android app introduced a number of bugs that actually broke chat and the images on the app. A new update was released last night and the developer is looking at compiling it over the next few days.

The iOS developer held he for randsom with ever increasing prices due to the bugs that had to be fixed in the base code and I now have to find a new developer who will do everything for a fixed price.

I don't want to release the apps until I am confident that the issues are fixed as it causes more frustration for everyone around.

UPDATE: 27 July 2021 - The iPhone app is nearing its testing phase and I trust that it will be ready within the next day or two. The developers will be issuing access on TestFlight to test the app. I am not an iOS user, so I can't test it myself. If you are willing to be a guinea pig then please let me know.

UPDATE: 14 July 2021 - You can now also search for "the torah network" or just "torah network" and the TTN app will be displayed first in the Play Store list.

UPDATE: 13 July 2021 - The latest Android app is now available to the general public on https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thetorahnetwork .

I believe Google is still building their search index, so you can either go directly to the above link or search for "thetorahnetwork" (no spaces) in the Store.

UPDATE: 12 July 2021 - The Android app is now available on https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thetorahnetwork as a wider test. So, you won't be able to search for it yet and have to browse directly to it with the above link.

An updated version will be released over the next day or two which has a number of grammatical errors fixed and features removed/added to bring it in line with the web site version.

For the iOS users: I want to get the Android app formally published in the Store and will then move on to get the iOS version released. I still expect the work to start this week, but the release will now most likely only be next week.

UPDATE: 8 July 2021 - I have uploaded the first version of the Android app to the Google Play Store, but it could take up to 7 days for them to approve it. There are still come gramatical errors in the app that will be fixed tomorrow, but if you want to be an early adopter/tester then please send me your Google email address in the chat window so that I can send you an invite.

UPDATE: 4 July 2021 - I spoke with the developer this morning and he is just going to test the connectivity with the server today (after the issues of Friday/Shabbat) and will then start on customizing and compiling the Android code. I expect the Android app to be released by Thursday.

We will then move on to the iOS app to have it released next week.

UPDATE: Mobile App - I believe this deserves its own post as a few people have asked me already today. I woke up this morning to the fact that @Nicello, @JessicaField and @Kara_tobecalled upgraded their accounts, so the funds were available to start with the mobile apps development. :tada:

I have purchased the code today and started with the branding of the Android app. If the community support continues at this trend then the Android app should be available by next week and the iPhone app the week thereafter. (The delay for the iPhone app is due to the fact that I need to find a Mac developer first.)

We are also in the process of moving house over the next two weeks, which will take up quite a bit of my time, but I will forge ahead when I have spare capacity.
