All that stuff which you are so blessed to possess actually affects you in a very deep way. You clean it and sort it and organize it and fret when it isn’t organized and cry when it gets broken. In fact, many of us weaker minded folks are more affectionately attached to our precious possessions than we are to our own children. If you don’t believe me, check your response next time your child breaks something of yours. The world we live in promotes materialism above all else. We want more money so we can spend more money. And then what? We have more stuff to deal with and care for.

Look out! I’m about to say something extraordinary!

Maybe, just maybe, if we got rid of some stuff and stopped caring about it so much, our hearts would have room to truly care for people. I’m not saying you don’t care about your family. I’m saying we all could be doing a much better job without the heavy burden of stuff.
