Under Nimrod’s supervision, the people on the plains of Shinar built a tower that was to give them access to heaven. Genesis 11;4, “Come,” they said, “let us build for ourselves a city with a tower that reaches to the heavens, that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of all the earth.” In this simple verse Moses describes the second fall of mankind under the leadership of Nimrod. Defying the instruction of Genesis 9;7, “But as for you, be fruitful and multiply; spread out across the earth and multiply upon it.” But also building a tower to heaven not just to meet the Creator but to conquer heaven, to make a name for themselves.
