Amos 1;1, “The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.” That is a great introduction for Amos, the shepherd, what qualified him to be a prophet? What gave Amos the authority to speak for the Creator of the universe and to say, “Thus saith the LORD?” There are unnamed prophets who counseled kings, who gave them that authority?
