How do you all respond to people who tell you that sabbath is not only the 7th day, it’s whenever you have a day off to rest?

I agree. My issue is they always respond with something like, “Bc of grace I don’t need to be bound to a certain day.” I try explaining that yahusha’s sacrifice was for our salvation but not to undue the law. We still need to walk in obedience but I just keep getting, “but grace”!

I've just gone back to the commands in Torah, I used to accept the logic that it was a day we could. pick to set aside ourselves or that we could say we are resting in Yeshua whenever we want to be, it wasn't until late 2021 when I gave up Christmas an Easter that I fully realized that Torah needed to be kept the way it tells us, not how we decide to.

Most will use Roman's 14 to back up their belief that you can choose any day of the week to keep Sabbath, but when you look at it in it's context, its not talking about Sabbath, its talking about food. Also, many say Sunday is the Lords Day because that's when He rose from the dead and assended into Heaven, and they somehow think that means thats the day we should now keep (which still doesn't make sense to me how they came up with that idea) ...but knowing the true timeline of His death and resurrection busts that theory anyways. Also, no where in scripture does it say anyone changed Sabbath to Sunday (or any other day of the week, for that matter).. not Jesus, not Paul, not God, no one. You won't find it because it's not in there. It was Constantine who changed it from Saturday to Sunday and the Catholic Church willingly admit they changed it for their own purposes. When you consider all of that and then go back and reread the commands in Torah, and then read the NT through that lense, it all begins to fit together that Sabbath is a lasting Covenant between God and His people...His people being Israel, (which includes those gentiles who have been grafted in), and even see the deciples and NT church keeping Sabbath in the 1st century. I will say find it interesting that those who believe you can choose any day you want to worship the Lord on are usually the ones who don't put aside ANY day at all...

Can Yah UNsanctify something He has sanctified? Gen. 2:1-3 (if memory serves) tells of Him sanctifying the seventh day. That day is forever set apart.

When I have a situation like this, I ask the person to show me exactly where in what-ever translation of the Bible they use, where anyone was given the authority to change anything. After they can't find it, or after their attempts to twist scripture out of context, I take them back to Matthew 5; 17, 18, 19. The people who want to continue to argue with -- But Paul said... I ask who is their Messiah? Paul or ישוע Yeshua? This doesn't change their faith (or their mind) but it challenges the way they practice their faith and that is the ultimate goal, to have everyone worship יהוה the way He instructs us to worship Him.

For anyone that is interested, there is a great resource to read called "From Sabbath to Sunday" written by a Catholic church historian that explains all of the changes in early church history. It's dry technical reading, but very informative of the true history of these changes.

It's like someone deciding FOR ME what day my birthday is. It's not up to them. It's my birthday, it only happens on a particular day, you're invited to attend but if you miss it, you missed it.
