Hello! I wanted to share about the hard, but fruitful work our family has been doing on our farm.
We do not have a local recycling center with free mulch. So we have been working hard to make our own. In just a couple if weeks ( with lots of other things going on to keep us from constantly doing this), we have created a huge mound of beautiful mulch.
We did this by using a blower mulcher for small twigs. Leaves etc. If it was an area with lots of pine leaves, we then sifted it into the bin. We also used a small wood chipper for our bigger sticks and then mixed it together.
We have taken the stance of not wasting any part of our farm that can be used in another way. (I do realize this is probably normal here and just logical, but I feel the majority of Americans throw out and haul away a lot of useful material)

It was cheaper for us to buy this equipment, than to buy mulch, or pay someone to mulch for us. And then we can always use it when we need it.

It was hard work, as we just bought the place and have lots of neglected work to make up for. We have also been clearing a HUGE berry patch that was left to over run.

This process of mulching and putting it on our gardens is SO worth it to us as it will protect our crops, feed our crops and water our crops!
