This is a conversation that has been happening on TikTok, as well as the title of the comic is based on the title of a presentation given by Nehemiah Gordon. When we compare what we have been taught to know and hang onto about Jesus to what the Bible says about him, we can paint two totally different pictures. Sure, there are some commonalities, such as his love for us and encouraging us to love one another. However, almost everything else is different.

The name I only mention because I have seen many, and come across several websites that say "Jesus is the ONLY name". Even to the point of saying how to proper pronounce the Hebrew letters for God's Name is actually "Jesus", too. Both of the views are severely lacking study of the language of the Bible. The verse I provided for the name is Acts 7:45, which is talking of Joshua, son of Nun, yet uses the Greek IOSEUS, and is translated as Jesus in the KJV. I don't care what name you use. I use Jesus a lot, still.

The name isn't the point of this comic though, but the idea of how Jesus approached the Law. The first idea on the Church side is what I grew up with. Most of my comics on this subject have been addressing this view. The other two are fairly new to me. It has only since my walk of doing the Father's commands have I come across people that say these other two. I had never heard of anyone saying Jesus broke the Law. These two points cause several problems. The first is in Deut 13, God tells Israel about false prophets. Those that do miracles and teach against God's commands. The second is the definition of sin is breaking the Law, this makes Jesus a sinner and no longer the perfect sacrifice for our sins. The last I'll cover here is it doesn't line up with Scripture. The things Jesus broke were traditions. Things not found in Scripture. Him healing on the Sabbath, for example, is not something God said not to do on the Sabbath. This was a tradition held by the Jews at the time of what was permissible and not on the Sabbath.

These traditions many in the Church don't know about because we don't study them. Mark 7 gives an example of several before Jesus again, talks out against those traditions. Not knowing these traditions, people then go and read the chapter and make it about what the definition of food is. This is why context is so important. Many of these thoughts on the Church side have been brought about because the context has been left out to come to these conclusions.
