who has successfully produced sweet potato slips? ..

who has successfully produced sweet potato slips? I have four organic sweet potato's in the process and just not seeing any roots or slips sprouting. How long does it take?

I'm sure it's way too late ... sorry! We start our own every year, however this year we did not get a good enough head start and I ordered some to supplement. I begin back in December or early January for our area - zone 6B - sometimes I have a lot pretty quickly, however usually it takes a while to multiply them. I've tried various ways of encouraging the sweet potato to sprout, and they all seem to take just about the same unpredictable amount of time I've kept them in a dark place in a paper bag or a box. I've kept them in a box buried in sand. I've get the sandy box in a cooler place and in a warmer place. I've cut off one end and put the cut end in water using toothpicks to help suspend the sweet potato. Whatever ways I've tried, it all just kind of seems like a toss up ... that's my experience so far, but I know there's definitely room for improvement and learning!!!!
