I'm not a fan of New Orleans. The fascination with dead people, voodoo, and relishing in unclean food reminds me of the later parts of Isaiah 66. Alas, here I am in New Orleans for a business trip. While going through antique shops with my daughter, I stumbled upon a display of mezuzot. The shop owner knew it to be something "Jewish" and completely out of place surrounded by 18th century French furniture and artwork. So I explained what a mezuzah is and how it is tied to the Greatest Commandment, the Shema. And then bought one just because it's the first time I've ever seen one in any store! My daughter picked it out. Just saying.
