In this new mass-exodus of public schooling, I feel like I'm an old-soul in homeschooling and don't quite fit in.
These days, there seem to be more parents engulfed in busyness and filling their day replacing public school with public school at home. Whether it be forcing their 4-6 year old children into rigid, all-day curriculum or packing their children's day so busy that they barely have time to breathe, let alone time to develop proper coping skills for their day-to-day situations. So many families we've met, in the past two years, are comprised of dads who aren't involved in raising their kids, moms who are comparing and judging other moms and kids who are lost in the mix of disengaged parents.
I miss the days of homeschool families who band together to help one another to raise well-rounded kids in a complete, supportive family situation. I miss being able to find like-minded families in which our children could find friends.
