The census that was taken in Numbers 1 totaled 603,550 men above the age of 20. There were some who were not counted, Numbers 1; 47—49, “The Levites, however, were not numbered along with them by the tribe of their fathers. For the LORD had said to Moses: “Do not number the tribe of Levi in the census with the other Israelites.” Those who left Egypt were considered the mixed multitude before the covenant was given in Exodus 20, so where are the people who were not children of Abraham? They were absorbed into the families. The same thing happens today when we accept our Creator as our God. We no longer are considered outsiders, our Creator adopts us as His own and we become absorbed into that great body of believers.
