From the Patterns of Life Bible. Happy Shavu'ot for all who are celebrating today!

In Acts P4 we read Peter's address to the crowd on the day of Pentecost. The apostles had just been anointed by the Holy Spirit to preach the gospel and this is the very first message that was spoken by any who have received God's Spirit after Jesus ascension.
Peter opens and closes this initial message by reminding the people of their connection to the promises of God. In A by addressing them by their nationality which on the mind of a first century Jew who was in Jerusalem for the festival of Shavu'ot (Pentecost), the promises that God had made to them would be front and center. In B Peter makes it very clear that the message that he is declaring is centered around receiving the Holy Spirit as he had just done and as had been prophesied would happen (B). And this is accomplished by calling upon the name of Jesus (C).
In D Peter recalls the events of 50+ days previously. Those who were present for Shavu'ot likely would have been present in Jerusalem on Passover as well due to them both being pilgrimage festivals, and so he reminds them of the not too distant crucifixion and the innocent man who God had revealed as the Savior. This man who had died so recently is not dead at all (E). He has been raised back to life and has been raised up to the right hand of the Father in the heavens (E'). This man is the Messiah for He is greater than David. David spoke of Him and David was not raised from the dead (F).
But now Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father and was the first to receive the promise of the Holy Spirit which they had just witnessed being poured out on man (G). This man Jesus was not abandoned to the grave or the realm of the dead, and His body did not see corruption in accordance with the prophecies spoken of the Holy One of God (H).
And in I Peter gets to the point. David saw death. But Jesus has conquered death. He is alive and He gives life to all. Death has no power now that it has been defeated and we too can have eternal life, just as Jesus has.

Peter Addresses the Crowd
A: 14 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them, "Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and give ear to my words.
..B: 15 For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: 17 "'And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; 18 even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy. 19 And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; 20 the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.
....C: 21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'
......D: 22 "Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know-- 23 this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.
........E: 24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.
..........F: 25 For David says concerning him,
............G: 25 "'I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;
..............H: 26 therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced; my flesh also will dwell in hope. 27 For you will not abandon my soul to Hades, or let your Holy One see corruption.
................I: 28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will make me full of gladness with your presence.'
................I': 29 "Brothers, I may say to you with confidence about the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. 30 Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants on his throne,
..............H': 31 he foresaw and spoke about the resurrection of the Christ, that he was not abandoned to Hades, nor did his flesh see corruption. 32 This Jesus God raised up, and of that we all are witnesses.
............G': 33 Being therefore exalted at the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured out this that you yourselves are seeing and hearing.
..........F': 34 For David
........E': 34 did not ascend into the heavens, but he himself says, "'The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at my right hand, 35 until I make your enemies your footstool.'
......D': 36 Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified."
....C': 37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" 38 And Peter said to them, "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins,
..B': 38 and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
A': 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself."
A: Children of Promise
B: Spirit
C: Call Upon the Name
D: Know; Crucified
E: Ascend / Raise Up
F: David
G: Right Hand
H: Not Abandoned to Hades
I: Life / Death
