In discussing community, many talk about which "model" to follow. Kibbutz, Moshav, a combination? Thoughts?

Early in Israel's return to haEretz (the Land), the primary model was a very socialist system where everything, including children and all assets were held in common. Children were given up to the system and everyone was rewarded equally... Very Russian.. The system had clear flaws by removing personal motivation and children were emotional automatons. Later 'communities' tried a moshav system that allowed for private land ownership, but community businesses. This was much more successful, but still not a real outworking of what Torah seems to expect and govern: private/family owned property, heritable assets for children, business interrelations between families, etc... Think 'clan' because all in an area would be related family.

So, let's duscuss/dig into this a bit more. Recovering a Torah based restoration of kol Israel demands a return to patriarchal families in clans and tribes. At that time the economy was largely agriculturally based and the laws reflect that. I think we have to remain connected to the ground and therefore agriculture, but the economy is so much greater than agriculture products. Based on Rory Groves' Durable Trades, a hybrid of the moshav may be best way forward: each family is responsible to till parr of their land for produce with a clan effort on larger crops and all are involved in several businesses owned by the moshav/clan or families in the clan. Think Beit El in Israel that has a jelly/jam business, laundry, coffee shop, aircraft landi.g gear business... (yes, full cnc machine shop shipping to McDonad Douglas, i think) etc.. see what skills Yah brings then hiw they fit in larger econony.
