Deuteronomy 18; 18 — 19, “When he is seated on his royal throne, he must write for himself a copy of this instruction on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests. It is to remain with him, and he is to read from it all the days of his life, so that he may learn to fear the LORD his God by carefully observing all the words of this instruction and these statutes.” Moses warns Israel that if they ever have a king rule over them he is to copy his own set of instructions and read it every day. The reason he is to write a copy for himself is that people remember what they write more than what they read. However by reading what they had written every day it would constantly remind the king how he is to live and rule. There are a lot of Bible reading plans, maybe we should try copying those first 5 books ourselves in order to learn them more intimately.
