Yet the people of Israel did not drive out the Geshurites or the Maacathites, but Geshur and Maacath dwell in the midst of Israel to this day.

The Maacathites and Geshurites lived to the northeast of Israel, scattered within and on the frontiers of Manasseh. They remained distinct peoples at least through the reign of David who fought wars against both kingdoms. After being subjugated by David, they were either completely absorbed by Israel or by Assyria after his death.
