God gave Israel 3 ways to deal with nations as they approached and entered the Promised Land.

Rule 1: If a nation attacks you without cause, destroy them.
Rule 2: If God gives you the land of another nation, destroy/evict them and take it.
Rule 3: If they leave you alone, you leave them alone.
