Until Joshua 11, Israel had always outnumbered their foes, even if they didn't have the same military training or equipment. Now they faced an enemy of approximately equal numbers, but with better technology and greater resources. Yet, God said "Do not be afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will give over all of them, slain, to Israel."
To God, there is no material difference between a single individual or an army of ten million soldiers with state-of-the-art weaponry. If they have arrayed themselves against him, he will use them for his purposes and then crush them.
