Who would turn Abraham, Jacob, Caleb, Gideon, and David away from being an elder in their local fellowship? Who would prevent them from even coming in the door?

Keeping it simple for the first question, I would. For the second, I wouldn't. However their are some technicalities regarding Abraham that would not disqualify him potentially and it sort of depends on when in their life we're hypothetically receiving them. In the Resurrection they are neither married nor given in marriage, so at that point there wouldn't be any restrictions whatsoever in my understanding.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Elder is a position one becomes purely as you age and gain wisdom from life experiences, etc. Deacon and Bishop are postions you're appointed after passing certain prerequisites. I have not personally seen a passage that gives a requirement for being an Elder....merely that they were one.

They could only be an elder if the were in line with the qualifications given in the New Testament. All scripture is valid. Post Yeshua, and out pouring of the Holy Spirit, scripture, is different than pre Yeshua and Pre infilling of the Holy Spirit, scripture. He was With us, before, now He is IN us. The Anty- is UPPED, NOT lowered. Those who came before Yeshua longed to see His day, and His ways. When He Was here, He taught and spoke about His Fathers Kingdom and what it was like,; and taught us how to love the Father and one another. - what loving the Father, and what loving one another Looks as well. As far as i have read, each Apostle was the husband of one wife. Those they engaged in ministry- just to wait tables and serve widows, had to be upright before YHWH, and filled with the Holy Spirit. Not apostles or evangelists. Waiters. Care Givers. One of things we see Elders in scripture doing is- laying hands on the sick and they(shall) recover. Have you tested any of the people you have, or will, appoint(ed) as Elders, with laying hands on the sick and they recover(supernaturally-not just making it through a cold or flu bug, riding it out with no more complications. Im talking laying hands on the sick and that person recovering supernaturally.)? Why not? It's in there; If youre an elsder, the people who are sck, are told, In Scripture, to call for the elders, who will lay hands on them, and they SHALL(Strongest word in the english language)recover. Not "naturally riding it out." but recover, right then. (How do i know this? we started practicing this as a congregation. Guess what? Scripture is right.) People are always prone to picking and choosing through scripture. MAybe that's why there are so many warnings about "rightly dividing the word." Quit making room for your flesh and die to yourself, take up your cross and follow Him.
