After this Jesus went about in Galilee. He would not go about in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill him.

Often in the New Testament, the term "Jews" is used to refer to a subset of the Jews, not to all Jews. John especially uses it to refer to the Jewish religious and political leadership in Judea, a collective term for the Pharisees, Sadducees, priests, and scribes.
