Genesis 31:48—49, “Then Laban declared, “This mound is a witness between you and me this day.” Therefore the place was called Galeed. It was also called Mizpah, because Laban said, “May the LORD keep watch between you and me when we are absent from each other.” The first time the term “watch” is used in the Bible describes the Creator keeping watch. Because He never sleeps our Creator sees everything and because He never tires, He is ready to take action. Our Creator is vigilant.
