#shavuot = "weeks" or "sevens". It's the Hebrew name for the Feast of Weeks, aka Pentecost.
Seven = perfection/completion. The repeated sevens of the Feast of Weeks and counting the 50 days could represent a continuous cycle of perfection, a spiral moving ever closer to the goal of unity with the Spirit of God.
The day of #shavuot is one day beyond the seventh seven. What can we learn from this? Perfect obedience isn't possible--it's beyond our reach no matter how many Torah cycles we live--but that's no reason to stop trying. Never stop running the race. Our lives are a refining process. We must respond to God's moving in our lives by moving ever closer to perfection, but we must trust in him and him alone for our eternal salvation and ultimate reconciliation with him.
