My Hebrew is terrible! Could someone please help me? In Isaiah 44:5 (I think), it talks about writing with or on the hand. Which preposition is it? My daughter (who has better Hebrew than me) thinks it says on, justifying tattoos. My interlinear says with. She is turning 18 in less than two months and is talking about getting tattoos. It doesnt help that I got one twenty years ago. We just want to be obedient to the Word! Thank you!

Aja Jade: וזה-And these
Aja Jade: יכתב- will write
Aja Jade: ידו- his hand
Aja Jade: ליהוה- to YHVH
Aja Jade: So neither the article with (עם) or
on (על) is not there
[6/23, 11:18 AM] Aja Jade: But one would have to be implied
[6/23, 11:18 AM] Aja Jade: Let me see where that same phrase occurs elsewhere
[6/23, 11:20 AM] Aja Jade: Amazingly this is the one and only place this exact phrase occurs
[6/23, 11:26 AM] Aja Jade: That said I personally would err on the side of caution here- since the text elsewhere directly forbids tattoos unless she is specifically wanting to tattoo ליהוה on her hand in fullfillment of and obedience to her interpretation of this specific prophecy I would say it is cherry picking
[6/23, 11:31 AM] Aja Jade: The grammar here is clear and unequivocal- לא- NO תתנו- tattoos בכם-on you
