In Numbers 13, Moses gave the twelve spies two intelligence collection tasks:

1-Determine the quality of the land
2-Determine the quality of the enemy.

There were five apparent reasons for sending them:

1-To bolster Israel's self-identity. See what obstacles God has designed you to overcome?
2-For God's glory. Even the most powerful enemy can't stand against the God of Israel.
3-Witness to God's goodness. A small taste of great things to come as reward for faithfulness to God.
4-Understand the challenges. Know that great obstacles precede great rewards. God rewards richly, but hates sloth.
5-Understand the consequences for failure. Know that no human power can keep you secure if you reject God and His #torah.

The wrong reasons to send the 12 spies: Fear and Doubt. Fear always leads to death, while #faith in the face of death leads to life.
