Because the Law defines sin and since nobody on earth can measure up to its standards, it condemns the whole world. Nobody will ever be able to restore themselves to right standing with God by doing what the Law says, because that which is imperfect can never perfect itself. Fortunately, God has provided a means of restoration through the blood of Yeshua. All who trust him and commit to faithfulness to him receive this forgiveness and restoration without regard to any obedience or disobedience to the Law. Jew and Gentile are all condemned together because of their guilt under the Law and so are forgiven together according to God's grace by no merit or accomplishment of their own. (Romans 3:19-30)
Our faithfulness to Yeshua's instructions doesn't mean that we are free to ignore the Law that was given before him. On the contrary, we uphold the Law! (Romans 3:31)
We are not to continue in the sin which once enslaved us! Through his perfect obedience and through his death, Yeshua set us free from the bondage to disobedience, and brought us to life again with him. We are now free to live according to his righteous standards. We are to be obedient as faithful slaves of the Law-giver. We were once slaves to sin, being condemned by our disobedience to the Law, but are now slaves to righteousness, obedient according to Yeshua's instructions. (Romans 6:1-18)
The Law of Moses is good, but it becomes evil to those who try to earn their way into God's favor through obedience. By their refusal to believe in God's grace, they have made the Law an impossible standard. However, Yeshua came to restore its original meaning and purpose. He is the focus, the standard, the living illustration of the Law for all who believe him. We don't have to fear that God will condemn us for every failure or misunderstanding. We have only to look to Yeshua and to his righteousness. He told us how to obey and showed us a perfect standard of righteousness, and through his blood, the shame of our disobedience is removed in God's sight and our faith is counted as righteousness. We are saved from condemnation by his righteousness. Whatever our nationality at birth, God has declared us to be his people. By living in faith according to the righteous standard set by Yeshua, God has made us to be an example of righteousness and a call to repentance to those who were born into Israel but still do not believe. (Romans 10)
