#balaam (together with Balak) was a counterfeit Moses. This is Satan's eternal strategy. He takes everything good and twists it just enough so that it still looks good but ultimately accomplishes the opposite of what God intended. Counterfeit gods, counterfeit holy books, counterfeit sabbaths, counterfeit holy days, counterfeit obedience...

Here are a few other mentions of Balaam in Scripture: Jude 1:11, 2 Peter 2:15, Revelation 2:14, Numbers 31:16. None of them are good.
