Worship, charity, birth, marriage, success, failure, and death are individual and community events simultaneously. Never forget the value of common merry-making. Good parties make good neighbors.

The third-year tithe wasn't taken to the Temple, but stored in the communities where it would be used. It was an honor-system, community-supported welfare for Levites, landless, orphans, and widows.
