The new Bible Reading Plan is here!
Do we realize what a treasure we have in our Bible? The ancients texts of God’s Word forge a link with our ancestors going back to the dawn of time. The words we read are the same words read by our fathers and mothers, Christian and Jewish. Even if they couldn’t read, the Word was read to them, fulfilling exactly what the Psalmist declared:
The Lord gave the word; Great was the company of those who proclaimed it:
Psalm 68:11
Yeshua was one of those who read the Word and proclaimed it. He taught the scriptures by example, and still encourages us to do as he did. He also encourages us to listen to the teachers of the word (in his day, it was the scribes and Pharisees) and do as they instruct from the scriptures. However, Yeshua did point out the disconnect between what the teachers taught and what they did. He would, of course, point out any similar inconsistencies among our pastors, teachers, rabbis, and priests today. He wouldn’t do so simply to find fault, but to exhort us to study for ourselves so that we can rightly divide the Word of Truth. Then we can detect the inconsistencies in our own lives, and humbly ask our Redeemer to bring correction.
Are you ready to follow Messiah Yeshua’s example? The B’ney Yosef North America Bible Reading Plan is a tool that can help. Starting with the Torah and Haftarah one-year cycle, this plan for the Hebrew year 5784 (2023-2024) incorporates readings from the rest of the Tanakh (Old Testament) and Apostolic Writings (New Testament) into a daily plan that covers the entire Bible over the course of the year. The start date is the same as the Torah cycle: the day after Simchat Torah (Celebration of the Torah) at the end of Sukkot, which this year falls on October 8.
If you are in search of an organized approach to the Word of God, maybe this can help. Whatever you do, please do get into the Word so that it can get into you!
