No sea and no moon?
Rev 21 talks about the new earth and verse 1 says there will no longer exist any sea. OK, that is clear, no large open body of salt water. Check.
Then I hear people teaching that there won't be a moon either. I believe there might be some confusion between what happens in new Jerusalem and the new earth.
Rev 21:23-24 says: "And the city has no need of the sun nor of the moon to give light to it, for the glory of God has illumined it, and the Lamb is its lamp and light. 24 The nations [the redeemed people from the earth] will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring into it their glory."
There is no need for a sun or moon in the new Jerusalem. OK, but does that say there does not exist a sun or moon to give light and signs to the rest of the earth?
Rev 22:2 talk about the new Jerusalem and says: "On either side of the river was the tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit every month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations."
12 kinds of fruit in its month. So there are 12 months, but how is a month determined if there is no moon?
So my thinking is, the new Jerusalem is lit by Father and Yeshua's glory as the city has jasmin walls and is made of pure transparent gold. But and this is a big BUT, there still is a sun and moon overhead to determine months and to give light to the rest of the earth.
(To take it a bit further, the promise is that every person will be able to grow his own vinyard in peace and enjoy the fruit thereof, and the nations will come to Jerusalem for the appointed times. Each person has a place to stay in the new Jerusalem, but it doesn't mean we'll be staying there forever. This is a subject for another post though...)
Is my thinking correct about the moon and what are your beliefs on this?

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before YHWH; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. xref-14 [xref-3]
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and sheol were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. [xref-1]
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire

2 And I John saw the set-apart city, new Jerusalem, coming down from YHWH out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. xref-2 [xref-1]
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of YHWH is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and YHWH himself shall be with them, and be their Elohim. xref-1 [xref-1]
4 And YHWH shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. xref-2 [xref-1]
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. xref-3 [xref-1]
6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. xref-6
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his Elohim, and he shall be my son. xref-2
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death
