Forming a belief from a single verse out of context leads to poor doctrine and forming a conclusion from a figure of speech is foolish. 2 Peter 3:8, “Beloved, do not let this one thing escape your notice: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.” Many try to use this verse to justify evolution in some way but they are ignorant of where Peter uses this figure of speech from. Psalms 90:4, “For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.” Peter’s use of this describes an eternal Creator who has seen the sins of our past in the blink of an eye and is willing to forgive when we choose to repent.
