So how does everyone deal with the well meaning oblivious "Merry Christmas" greeting?

Sternly inform them you do not celebrate Christmas
Reply Merry Christmas back
Pretend you didn't hear them and run away
Respond with another greeting
Launch a full seminar on the pagan origins of Christmas

Usually, I just say, "Thank you."
But yesterday, someone asked me if I was in the christmas spirit. You dhould have seen the shock 😳 when i said that i dont celebrate. He sputtered out something like, "Oh really. That's cool," kind of under his breath. He was trying so hard not to offend me and not embarras himself. It was so weird to me. I've never had to tell a stranger before.

I tell santa happy hanukah. I tell most i dont celebrate the hallmark holidays. I usually say have a good day off or enjoy YOUR holiday. Sometimes i ignore it completely. It just depends on how it strikes me. People that know me get the full explanation about saturnalia and everything. They dont care.

Yvonne Jacke, lol, I've experienced that... 😅 If I try to explain they're like, "Well that's cool." Which I guess is better than, "What's wrong with you?" 😆 But it would just be nice if it felt like they were saying that because they really do think it's cool instead of feeling like they're afraid to offend me.... 😕

Some random person at the grocery store: I"ll often just say "You also", but a couple cashiers that we know a bit better are chatty and it has come up that we don't celebrate. I always say no offense is taken if they start to apologize and that I hope they have a good day/days. We've actually gotten more flack for not keeping Halloween... *shrug*

To my mother, who insists on saying Merry Christmas, I just respond with "Hope you all are having a good day." Figure she may come around eventually (especially as my dad doesn't care for the holiday) and so I try not to alienate her over it.

Yahshua was born in Yehudah in Beth’Lehem. He moved to Nazareth to avoid bring murdered. I’m a Calgarian, because I lived there most of my life, but I wasn’t born there, I was born in Ontario and we moved to Calgary. Same thing applies here.

I did a quick calculation estimation. So there are 7 Feasts and 3 of them you have to gather in Yerushalayim. Let’s say it’s about 10-14 days a year, times that by 40 and that about 560 days since he started teaching officially on paper. 3 days is not realistic.

Where are you getting 40? Less than two years is not enough time, either. I studied formally for at least 6 years, and I certainly dont know as much!

That has been a pretty hard one for me as a teen, my Search and Rescue team during last training told me and Marty Merry Christmas... I let Marty respond lol. He is pretty good at doing it in a non-condemning way, and it made everyone there look like they were interested but that it was kinda weird and they didn't get it at the same time. Of course, they asked "Are you Jewish?" lol.

The next day I did a side job and one of his neighbors said Merry Christmas to me. I said thanks and kept it short and sweet. I know that many of these people who say that are ignorant of our walk and are just trying to encourage a good sentiment of charity and friendship during these holidays (also, some of these people don't even know Yah in a Christian way yet), I forgive them for their ignorance. Who knows, maybe some of these people's hearts are at a place where seeds can be planted when we give them insight if they ask more questions, and they start looking into our walk more afterwards (because we're a peculiar people) 😉. I am still a timid "Timothy" on these matters, and praying for guidance by His Hand. But I'll get to a good place eventually, practice makes better

Thank you. May you have a blessed time as you celebrate Yeshua's (or Jesus', depending on the person and the setting) birth.

I may insert (again, depending on the setting and the person). I don't personally celebrate Christmas, (I may also insert:
preferring the festivals God gave us in the Bible). I had a really nice Chanukkah.

It's always a bit different. There isn't always time for explanations and I don't give one without being asked. So much depends on the person and the setting.
