For instance, when you tell a toddler not to touch a hot plate then they don't simply walk away in obedience, but first want to know why.
As we are discussing the feast dates this month: As adults, the Bible only tells us about barley being Abib to determine the start of the year, but it doesn't make sense and therefore we want to add additional rules and calculations to make it fit our paradigm. We basically can't accept that the dates may change due to weather conditions (which are all in Father's hands in any case) as it will be inconvenient not to know the exact date and almost everything else in our lives run on calculable time slots.
It is like an expecting mother who calculates her due date, but the baby comes when it is time and not according to the calculation. The parents wait in anticipation and simply go with the flow in the run up to the calculated date, but know that it can happen at any time the closer they get to the date.
The calculated date coincides with the birth date, but does not cause the birth. Even at the time of birth, only when you see the baby can you determine the hour of the birth.
