I served up French toast the other day to my kids. My oldest who is 5 said:

“Hey Dad, we’re eating French toast, so we’re basically French.” ???

Not to dumb down the funniness of your story, but that reminded me of why many believe they are saved "as they grew up in a Christian house".

If they were born in a garage then they are a car. For that matter, most of us were born in hospitals so are all doctors. ?

Just had a further thought. Sometimes when people hear I keep Passover etc they ask are you Jewish? Now I could answer "do you eat French toast?" That doesn't necessarily make you French. But as a citizen of God's kingdom I choose to keep the kingdom's appointed days.
