This is such a good example of when Father forgives then He forgives and forgets.

We remember David's sins and yet they are forgiven.

I personally see the length of time it takes between sinning and asking true forgiveness as the level of spiritual maturity of the person. The shorter the time between, the more spiritually mature one is.
