He who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, like one who breaks a dog's neck; he who presents a grain offering, like one who offers pig's blood; he who makes a memorial offering of frankincense, like one who blesses an idol. These have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations...
Isaiah 66:3

Making a sacrifice can't make the heart right. Repent first or your sacrifice itself becomes a sin. If you attempt to bring an offering to God with pride or hatred in your heart, you will not be accepted. The greater your offering, the greater is your sin.

Notice that all of the negative offerings are from pagan religions. God is saying that if you don't worship him with the right attitude and heart, you might as well go worship some other god.
