Then he said to me, "This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. For everyone who steals shall be cleaned out according to what is on one side, and everyone who swears falsely shall be cleaned out according to what is on the other side."
Zechariah 5:3 ESV

Stealing and false swearing are two sides of the same crime in God’s eyes. The thief takes what isn’t his, and the fraud tricks someone into paying what they don’t owe. Both will be swept away by a curse that might not appear at first to be directly related to the crime, but the punishment is apt as it takes away that which was stolen and much more besides.
