Question:
I've been going through and outstanding series on Prayer and Fasting. It shows how fasting was complete, no food and no water. People literally were kept alive by the word of God. [Dev 8:3]
They make the case that, while prayer can be without fasting, fasting should never be without prayer.
My question is...what about communion? There is a verse where it indicates not even a taste of anything should be had. [Yonah 3:7] Yet, communion is part of prayer and drawing close to God.
I can't ask the ones doing the teaching since they believe the Last Supper was a Pesach seder, which I don't agree with. That does not fit the time line.
So, what do you all think? Obviously, communion is not a meal. However, it would be a taste.
Is it OK to have communion during a time of fasting? Or does it make the fast incomplete, possibly nullifying it?

How often do you believe one must partake of communion?
Are you able to do a shorter fast to not impede your communion schedule? Or do you find the fast to be of more importance and can skip a scheduled communion?
Are you convinced that all fasting must be complete? Or can you in good conscience do both: sometimes a complete fast skipping your communion schedule and maybe other times a 'mini-fast' if you will where you still partake on schedule?
I can't really answer the other questions as my beliefs are the complete opposite : )

If you make it out in your heart to be a complete fast then that is what you should keep.
It's the same as making a Nazarene vow and then deciding midway through to cut your brow as it is annoying you. The vow was for a specific purpose and has specific rules.
Also, if we look at Ananias and Sapphira, the money from the sale of their house was theirs to do with what they wanted to, but they tried to deceive others and was struck down for that.
By keeping a fast, it is within your power to decide how you want to keep it. Just don't deceive others or yourself by saying that you are doing it one way and then doing it a different way just to look better in their eyes.
