3rd or 4th Temple
I understand that some believers are waiting for the 3rd Temple to be built. This could be as a sign of the end-times or because they want to go there and do sacrifices themselves; bearing in mind that only the sin sacrifice has been replaced by Yeshua's sacrifice and the other 4 sacrifice types will commence on the New Earth.
Reading 1 Maccabees which spans the "400 quiet years" it tells of the temple being rebuilt as the 3rd Temple. This will then make the expected Temple construction the 4th version.
(Side Note: 1 and 2 Maccabees include within them the earliest references to the story of Hannukah and reads just like other books in the current Bible canon.)
1. Is there any significance to the version number of the expected Temple?
2. Also, do you accept 1 and 2 Maccabees as Scripture or totally reject it and why?

I accept the Apocryphal books as extra info, helpful to read, but not on par with the Torah/Pentateuch. Which I guess I look at Paul's letters the same way but.. other subject...
If I remember correctly the Apocrypha was included in Bibles up until the 1880s, so I figure my gr, gr-grandparents probably read them.
As far as I & II Maccabees in particular, that is something I think is important for my children to hear- another account of people following the Most High even to death.

How many sermons or teachings have you come across on 1 or 2 Chronicles?
Same for the other extra books that are included in the Septuagint. Although the Esdras books are supposed to include the prophecies of Ezra. I haven't read them yet. -- Why? Because they are part of the Septuagint. It is one of our oldest sources for Scripture, but at the same time the TaNaK of Judaism and the OT of Protestant Christianity are the same and do not include those books either and I believe there is something to that. Which is why I don't put a lot of weight to them.
From what I have read of the books, they are interesting and can give some good insight to thoughts and behaviors of the time.

I like and use 1 and 2 Maccabees while being comfortable calling them "not scripture". The Jews didn't include them in the canon referenced by Josephus. I've only found two reasons: they don't know the author and/or the books were written originally in Greek. The Jews do not like stuff written in Greek.
Which verse calls the temple the third in 1 Mac? Maybe I missed it. I've always read that to be a cleansing of the second temple and a rededication, not a third.
I'm leery of a third (or whatever number) of the one that everyone thinks is going to be built before Yeshua returns. I've only seen three temples in my studies of the Word: Solomon's, the second, and the one Yeshua is bringing with Him. I don't see any prophecy of a man-made temple being made after the Daniel 9 prophecy, but perhaps I'm missing that, too.

Joe 3:18 KJV And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.
