This is the way of an adulteress: she eats and wipes her mouth and says, “I have done no wrong.”

This is a real world application of vs 18-19. The adulteress believes that she doesn't leave a trace, but there is always evidence left behind, and the damage she does is discernible to those with the understanding to look in the right ways and places.
