First Century Christianity?!

An anachronism if ever there was one!

Christianity arose in the Second century.
Not the First!

And it came out of the Hadrianic genocides when the majority of the people who called themselves HaDereck (The Way) were annihilated by Rome in her efforts to exterminate the Jews from Israel (along with anyone else who could have and were easily mistaken for Jews). With the the educated and knowledgeable in The Way dead or fled from the land, and those left in charge compromised with the civic authority to reflect a Greco-Roman habit, the majority of the sect was taken up by ignorant Greek converts who knew only their heathen ways and not The Way that was founded by Messiah and furthered by His emissaries.

These pagan born heathens, steeped in Greek philosophy and heathen religion had spent a lifetime calling the Followers of The Way “Christianos” as an insult. Mocking them for following the “poured upon One” or the “rubbed in One”. And then found themselves believing in something of the sort. Everyone who was available to teach them The Way was either dead or gone far from Israel. So what did the concerts do? They adopted the pejorative as their own, as it was all they knew. It’s like someone calling us “idiot” and then us actually adopting it as our own name. We wouldn’t do that, unless we didn’t know any better.

So there’s little to no reason to refer to our Messiah as Christ, since this was a Greek insult nor ourselves as Christians as this too was begun as pagan mockery.

And as we do not follow a Greco-Roman replacement Savior who values everything of empire and nothing of Israel, and since we follow a Hebrew Messiah not a Greek Christ (and no the two terms are not synonymous) we have no need nor should we have any want of a reference to ourselves as Christians.

The Messiah followed The Way.

He Himself is The Way.

His students lived and taught The Way.

And so also did their students after them.

…Until the wrath of Rome rose against the Jews and their armies ran over everyone thought to be or mistaken to be Jewish without care or concern for distinction.

We follow The Way.

Call us idiots if you wish, but we won’t be adopting insults as our own epithets. Thank you very much.
