My kids strongly dislike it when I compare our lives with those less fortunate as they see it as unfair. "We don't live in..." or "We aren't ..." is the general response.

I don't know if other parents have the same experience or whether I had the same mentality 30 years ago towards my parents.

BUT sometimes we have to compare our lives with others just to truly appreciate the blessings we do have as there is always someone else worse off. That then makes me so much more appreciative for what Father has blessed me with.
