The story of the Little Red Hen, an old folktale, was first published in 1874. It gained greatly in popularity with the “Little Golden Books” series throughout the early-mid 20th century.

The Little Red Hen
One day as the Little Red Hen was scratching in a field, she found a grain of wheat. "This wheat should be planted," she said. "Who will plant this grain of wheat?" "Not I," said the Duck. "Not I," said the Cat. "Not I," said the Dog. "Then I will," said the Little Red Hen. And she did.
Soon the wheat grew to be tall and yellow. "The wheat is ripe," said the Little Red Hen. "Who will cut the wheat?" "Not I," said the Duck. "Not I," said the Cat. "Not I," said the Dog. "Then I will," said the Little Red Hen. And she did.
When the wheat was cut, the Little Red Hen said, "Who will thresh the wheat?" "Not I," said the Duck. "Not I," said the Cat. "Not I," said the Dog. "Then I will," said the Little Red Hen. And she did.
When the wheat was threshed, the Little Red Hen said, "Who will take this wheat to the mill?" "Not I," said the Duck. "Not I," said the Cat. "Not I," said the Dog. "Then I will," said the Little Red Hen. And she did.
She took the wheat to the mill and had it ground into flour. Then she said, "Who will make this flour into bread?" "Not I," said the Duck. "Not I," said the Cat. "Not I," said the Dog. "Then I will," said the Little Red Hen. And she did.
She made and baked the bread. Then she said, "Who will eat this bread?" "Oh! I will," said the Duck. "And I will," said the Cat. "And I will," said the Dog. "No, No!" said the Little Red Hen. "I will do that." And she did.

“And indeed, all those wishing to live reverently in Messiah Yeshua, shall be persecuted. But evil men and impostors shall go on to the worse, leading astray and being led astray. But you, stay in what you have learned and trusted, having known from whom you have learned, and that from a babe you have known the set-apart scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Messiah Yeshua. All scripture is breathed out by Elohim and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for setting straight, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of Elohim might be fitted, equipped for every excellent work.”

“And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshipped Elohim who sat on the throne, saying, ‘Amen! Halleluyah!’ And a voice came from the throne, saying, ‘Praise our Elohim, all you His servants and those who fear Him, both small and great!’ And I heard as the voice of a great crowd, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunders, saying, ‘Halleluyah, for YHWH Ěl Shaddai reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him praise, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife prepared herself. And to her it was given to be dressed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteousness of the Qedoshim!’” (Qedoshim – Set-Apart ones, Saints)

“Here is the endurance of the Qedoshim, here are those guarding the commands of Elohim and the faith of Yeshua.”

“And when the dragon saw that he had been thrown to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male child. And the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, to fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. And out of his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river after the woman, to cause her to be swept away by the river. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the river which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to fight with the remnant of her seed, those guarding the commands of Elohim and possessing the witness of Yeshua Messiah.”

“We command you, brothers, in the Name of our Master Yeshua Messiah, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which you received from us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, for we were not disorderly among you, nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but worked with labor and toil night and day, in order not to burden any of you, not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example, for you to imitate us. For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone does not wish to work, neither let him eat.”
