One pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.
Proverbs 13:7 ESV

Don't judge a book by its cover, but judge a book by its cover.

People who want to appear rich, but aren't, often give themselves away by poor taste or ostentatious displays. They have fancy clothes and cars, but dilapidated houses. Rich people frequently don't care to look rich in public. They often drive ordinary cars but live in fine homes.
