This year, just as in recent years, we attended TorahFamily's Sukkot gathering. It is our favorite holiday and we always have a blast there. This year, Steve had a speech on the last day that got me thinking. (https://torahfamily.org/rise-up-from-the-dust/)

His message was on not thinking God can't use you. How David's mighty men did extraordinary things, yet when they came to David they were destitute. Much like the guy I am picturing in the comic.

He does a really good job of relaying how God can still use you, so I don't want to cover that. Please watch the video.

I want to cover the after: "okay, God can use me, but how?"

Let's look at my own experience. Two of my churches had tests you could take to tell you what your abilities were to see your purpose. I remember one said "Mercy". I really didn't know what to do with this information.

When I looked at God using me in different ways throughout my life; I thought of my God-given abilities as different things in different times.

First, I thought I was a hard worker. If any task was given to me, I would put my all into it.
Then, I thought I was a learner, because any task that was given to me, I learned rather quickly and was able to adapt to new jobs and positions easily.
Later, I thought I was a secondary, not the leader, but the assistant. I was put in a lot of positions that were similar to this and I did well at them.

During these times, I always wondered what God had in store for my life. I had people tell me what they thought, I had my ideas, but nothing ever sat right as "this is it".

Until now, I see what all those had in common and the theme of my life: a servant.

In all those positions and even outside of the workplace, my skills were always put to help other people. Even today, I have several things I volunteer for, even at the Sukkot we went to.

What is kind of ironic/funny/whatever is when I was a teenager, my homeschool sports team was named "Thy Servants".

But how did I come to this conclusion? Prayer, listening, and reflection. I can tell you that even during me signing up for volunteer opportunities that I still didn't understand that I was being a servant. I was just looking at using my skillset in a way to help someone else.

It was just one day, God hit me with the word: servant. For me, I see that as a good thing. We are called to be like Messiah, who came as a servant.

What I hope you get out of Steve's message and my blurb here: God can use you and He will show you how. Trust in Him.
