And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

Those who don’t have the firstfruits of the Spirit also groan as a part of creation, but the closer we walk in the Spirit, the greater our awareness of the effect of the curse on ourselves and on all of creation. That awareness comes with grief over the state of the world and an ever increasing longing for resolution. See Ecclesiastes 1:18.
