Romans 15:15 ESV
Although Paul was happy with the progress and maturity of the Roman believers in general, the conflict between the Jewish disciples and the newer converts had the potential to become a serious problem. He wrote to them in strong terms in hopes to prevent this burgeoning division.
Unfortunately, we know from history that this letter wasn’t enough to unify the two camps in the long term. In fact, both sides ended up taking individual sentences--and even clauses--out of this letter and twisting them to mean the opposite of what Paul intended.
