So, you should realize that just as a parent disciplines a child, Adonai your YHVH disciplines you to help you.

Listen! I am not talking now to your children, who have never experienced the discipline of Adonai your YHVH or seen his greatness and awesome power.

PROVERBS 1:2, 3 & 7
The purpose of these proverbs is to teach people wisdom and discipline, and to help them understand wise sayings. Through these proverbs, people will receive instruction in discipline, good conduct, and doing what is right, just, and fair. Fear of Adonai is the beginning of knowledge. Only fools despise wisdom and discipline.

PROVERBS 3:11
My child, don't ignore it when Adonai disciplines you, and don't be discouraged when he corrects you.

and you will say, "How I hated discipline! If only I had not demanded my own way!

For these commands and this teaching is a lamp to light the way ahead of you. The correction of discipline is the way to life.

A wise child accepts a parent's discipline; a young mocker refuses to listen. If you refuse to discipline your children, it proves you don't love them; if you love your children, you will be prompt to discipline them.

Discretion is a life-giving fountain to those who possess it, but discipline is wasted on fools.

PROVERBS 29:15,17 & 19
To discipline and reprimand a child produces wisdom, but a mother is disgraced by an undisciplined child. Discipline your children, and they will give you happiness and peace of mind. For a servant, mere words are not enough-discipline is needed. For the words may be understood, but they are not heeded.

ISAIAH 26:16
Adonai, in distress we searched for you. We were bowed beneath the burden of your discipline.

Adonai, your discipline is good, for it leads to life and health. You have restored my health and have allowed me to live!

Fear not, Jacob, my servant," says Adonai, "for I am with you. I will destroy the nations to which I have exiled you, but I will not destroy you. But I must discipline you; I cannot let you go unpunished."
