is it ok to get onto ttn on Sabbath? to read only is one thing, to post another.
do we move out of our house when we 'talk' over x amount of miles?
how are we to compare it to work?
is the fact the Sabbath was made for man pertinent?
i genuinely don't know, would like to hear what people think, and am sneakily testing rhy's new question post story...

Technically, we probably shouldnt use the Internet at all on sabbath because even though its all automated, someone is working on the sabbath to tend to all those servers, power plants , etc. In our modern life, we tend to overlook these things. Its ok to leave your house, but not your neighborhood. "Place" is very generous in hebrew. If talking on the phone didnt employ people tending the system, there would not be an issue for talking over long distances. Posting, aside from using utilities on the sabbath, is fine as long as you are doing good, not evil. Do we make excuses like jewish believers that non believers are ok to make work on the sabbath, or that they have to work anyway, so its ok? If everyone truly kept sabbath, utilities would not be available. Its a heart thing.

I see nothing wrong with using the internet on the Sabbath. Much of it is automated anyway. It is also a good way to interact with other Torah believers and listen to sermons, especially if there is no local fellowship available.
