You may be familiar with the phrase “love means never needing to say you’re sorry”. This could be one of the least accurate descriptions there is. Loving someone as you would love your spouse or as you love a family member or even a close friend should mean that you would never purposefully do anything to offend them. Two verses address this Deuteronomy 6:5 “And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” And of course John 14:15 “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.”
