Interesting that there is no mention or correlation of children sinning in scripture. It seems that only "those 20 and older" are held accountable for sin, as was the case for not entering Canaan after the exodus.

whether this is a classification of sin, and being mauled by yogi is an accounting, is another thing.
children need carrots and sticks (rods, literal or figurative, psychological pain is real too) for education, not for sentencing.
(i had the pleasure of experiencing both types of rods in my childhood. welts fade faster, it's more clear you're being punished, and there's better awareness in the risk/gratification determination. correct usage assumed, of course.)

The only exception is that the Levi boys were trained from earlier on in their lives, but that was about training and not about them being considered to be accountable.
Hmmm, thinking of what Henk mentioned, I can't recall whether it was youths in the original translation or 'young men' that got mauled.
So it comes down to the parents as in the "honor your mother and father" part of the Commands. If your parents raise you well and you honor them then you will listen to them and not sin.
Similar to how a woman is under either the protection of her dad as an unmarried woman or under her husband. The onus is on the dad or husband to lead and train their households and am therefore more accountable in these cases.
