Grafted Into What?!
Everybody loves to talk about being “grafted in” in Christendom. You hear it all the time: “We’re part of Israel now! We’ve been grafted in by faith!”
But do they ever really think about what they’re saying?
Grafted into what?!
Israel!
They say the quiet part out loud without even realizing it.
They call themselves the “new Israel,” the “Israel of God,” or “spiritual Israel,” and then use those labels to separate themselves from physical Israel. “The Jews are the literal Israel” they say…and the rest of us? What? We get to make up our own rules?
Calling yourself Israel while rejecting the responsibilities of Israel is like saying, “I’m a racecar driver… but I’ve never driven a race car, don’t even know how, and I refuse to learn the rules of the track.”
You can call yourself whatever you want — spiritual, new, of God — but that doesn’t make it real. It’s words without substance. You might as well be a “spiritual toaster” for all the difference it makes.
Romans 11 lays it out clearly: the wild branches — the nations — get grafted into the cultivated olive tree of Israel. That tree has roots. Strong, living roots. And those roots aren’t church traditions, Sunday programs, or a “grace without Torah” lifestyle. The roots are the covenant promises YHWH gave to Avraham, Yitzchak, and Ya’akov.
Torah.
Obedience.
Walking in the Instructions laid down from the beginning.
And making the situation even more messy, many insist they are under the “New Covenent,” but ignore that the New Covenent was made with Israel. Scripture says those who are Israel must obey the commandments, or they are cut off. Claiming the new covenant while rejecting Torah obedience is like saying, “I’m a racecar driver, but I just watch everyone else on the track and cheer from the stands.” You’re missing the whole point of your own words.
Being “grafted in” isn’t a title, a warm feeling, or memorized verses. It isn’t about calling yourself spiritual, new, or “of God.” Real grafting is about walking in covenant, obeying the Word of YHWH, and holding fast to the testimony of Yeshua. Anything less is being a branch by itself — and a branch broken off elsewhere not actually grafted into the good tree is without life. Or elsewise a branch grafted in but not accepting the grafting…it withers, dies, and gets cut off.
YHWH calls His people to obedience. Claim grafting without Torah, without literal covenant responsibility, without connection to the root, and you’ve missed the whole point of the Tree. Real grafting requires connection — to the tree, to the root, and to the instructions that give life and blessing. That’s where the fruit grows, and that’s where real faith is proven.
